Pizza Hut to Give 'Something' Away for Free February 5

New product to be given away if 'Hut' is said during the Super Bowl

"Hut" is a word that’s said many times over the course of a football game, usually uttered by the quarterback one or two times before "Hike!" sets the play in motion. The folks over at Pizza Hut have apparently been searching for the best way to capitalize on this convenient crossover, and it looks like they’ve found it: If a player says "hut" during the Super Bowl (which they certainly will), the pizza giant will give away an unnamed new product between the hours of 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. two days later, on Feb. 5.

"Simply wait for that magic word to be said during the game and we’ll activate the giveaway across each one of our 6,200-plus restaurants nationwide," Kurt Kane, the chain’s CMO, said in a release.

Pizza Hut is trying to get as much mileage as possible out of the "Hut" coincidence, apparently, as their Super Bowl commercial, which features kids and friends playing football, also uses the word copiously. The name of the spot? "HUT HUT HUT."

Score Free Food on Your Birthday at These 24 Chain Restaurants

I love birthdays, and it's not just because of the presents and parties. It's mostly because I get to eat cake (on my birthday and for the next week) and I get free food. In the past, my parents would take me out to dinner, but now that I'm in college my parents aren't usually there to celebrate it with me.

Luckily, there are a bunch of chain restaurants all across the United States where I can get a ton of free food and drinks for my special day no matter where I am. To make it even better, some of these restaurants offer specials throughout the whole month and not just on the day of your birthday. If you want to make your special day/month even more special, check out these 24 chain restaurants that offer free food on your birthday.

#SpoonTip: Check out where to get free dessert on your birthday too, because sometimes cake is not enough.

This Simple Trick Will Get You a Free Papa John's Pizza

Free things are great, but they usually come with a catch. You wan't a free burrito from Chipotle? Well you're just gonna have to settle for BOGO or the occasional nationwide store closure. Fortunately, that's not the case with Papa John's. At Peyton Manning's favorite chain, if your pizza isn't up to snuff, all you have to do is call and complain and they'll send you another one for free. Easy as pie.

According CEO John Schnatter (aka, Papa John), the company doesn't really, "need a 'Quality Guarantee'," but is going to do this potentially harmful new promotion anyway because, "If we want to live by our commitment to provide, 'Better Ingredients and Better Pizza' we have to be able to deliver." And deliver it will&mdashthousands of free pizzas to morally dubious customers, that is.

But it's not as easy as calling up Papa and simply saying, "I don't like my pizza." No, you're going to have to give him a real concrete reason why you deserve a new one. Papa John's terms and conditions state that "unsatisfactory conditions" include undercooked, overcooked, or damaged(?) pizza, or skimpy and wrong toppings. As long as you mention one of those and have your original receipt handy, you should be in the clear to get a brand spanking new pizza.

Unfortunately there is one minor catch: You aren't allowed to eat more than two slices of the original pizza. If you do, Papa John's, "reserves the right to collect your original pizza order at the time of your replacement pizza." Yeah ok. Something tells us the delivery person isn't going to want your partially eaten pie.

Directions

For the dough: Combine the yeast, sugar, salt, and dry milk in a 2-quart size mixing bowl. Add the water and stir to mix. Let the mixture sit for 2 minutes or until the yeast starts to bubble.

Add the oil to the dough mixture and stir to combine.

Add the flour in one cup increments, stirring after each addition, until a dough forms and the flour is all combined.

Turn the dough out onto a flat, lightly floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes.

Divide the dough into three equal balls.

Place about 3 ounces of oil in the bottom of each 9-inch cake pan or cast iron skillet. Tilt the pans to spread the oil evenly.

Using a rolling pin, roll out each ball of dough to a 9-inch circle and place in the prepared pans.

Lightly coat each dough disk with cooking spray or oil and cover with plastic wrap. Place in a warm, draft-free location and let rise for 1 to 1 1/2 hours or until puffy.

Meanwhile, prepare the sauce by combining all the ingredients until blended. Let sit at room temperature for at least one hour. The sauce can be made ahead of time and kept in the refrigerator. Bring to room temperature before using.

Preheat the oven to 475 degrees F.

For each 9-inch pizza: Spoon 1/3 cup of the sauce on the dough and spread to within 1 inch of the edges. Sprinkle with 1 1/2 ounces of shredded mozzarella cheese. Place toppings of choice in the following order: thin meats like pepperoni or canadian bacon, vegetables, ground or cubed meats, additional mozzarella cheese.

Place the pizzas in the oven and cook until the outer crust is brown and the cheese is bubbly in the center (11-15 minutes, depending on how many toppings you use).

Remove from the oven. Let cool for 2-3 minutes then remove from the pans to a cutting board and cut into wedges using a pizza cutter.

3. Propylene Glycol

Also known as: Antifreeze

Found in: Light Ice Cream

How do you make frozen ice cream more scoopable? Douse it in antifreeze! Sounds like a bogus suggestion, but the folks at Skinny Cow, Breyers Fat-free, and Carb Smart (among other brands) use antifreeze, otherwise known as propylene glycol, in their "light" ice creams to make them easier to scoop. BEAT IT! Real ice cream is a high-fat indulgence made from milk, sugar, cream, and sometimes eggs. Your best bet is to keep it real the simpler the ingredient list, the better. Plus, food you make at home just tastes better. Try our irresistible recipes for spicy buffalo wings, pancakes, and more that help you lose weight without sacrificing flavor.
